# Privacy and data

> Control optional data processing, export everything, or delete your account.

Everything optional is off until you turn it on. Manage it all from **Account → Privacy and communications**.

## Optional processing

* **Product and web analytics**: anonymous usage events that help improve HeyBee. Your prompts, outputs, votes, and participant data are never included, and session recording is off.
* **Email engagement measurement**: lets HeyBee see that an email was delivered or a link was clicked, where the law allows it. Stored events omit the URL, your IP address, and the message contents.
* **Product news by email**: occasional announcements. Turning this off never blocks receipts, security alerts, or results notifications.

Each toggle takes effect immediately, and HeyBee keeps a record of every change so you can always see what was allowed and when.

## Export your data

Select **Prepare export** in **Privacy and communications** to build a complete archive of your account: profile, settings, evaluations, votes, credit and Thoughts history, team memberships, and consent records. Secrets such as API keys and login tokens are never included.

The archive is compressed JSON Lines, one record per line, easy to process with any tooling. You get a private download link when it is ready. The archive is deleted after seven days, so download it promptly.

## Delete your account

Deletion is deliberate, and reversible for seven days:

1. Type **DELETE** to confirm. Your account deactivates immediately.
2. For seven days, you can sign back in and select **Recover account** to undo everything.
3. After seven days, HeyBee permanently deletes your content, files, and credentials, and verifies each step completed rather than assuming it did. Where the law requires keeping accounting records, they are kept with nothing that identifies you.

If you own Team workspaces, transfer ownership or delete them first. This protects your teammates' shared work from disappearing with your personal account.
