# Collect votes

> Share voting links, set limits, and see exactly what voters experience.

## Voting links

Voting links are how people vote on your evaluation. Anyone with a link can vote from any device, no account required.

Create one from **Setup & collect** under **Voting links** with **New link**. The URL is copied to your clipboard on creation. Each link has:

* a **name**, so you can tell your links apart, for example "Design team review"
* **What should voters judge?**, guidance shown at the top of every comparison
* **Expires in days**, 7 by default, up to one year
* **Limits**: max participants, votes per participant, a total vote limit, and a spend cap in credits

Voting stops at whichever limit is reached first. You can change limits, pause, or resume a link at any time. Revoking a link is permanent, but every vote already collected is kept.

<Tip>
  Set a spend cap on links you share widely. It is the simplest way to guarantee a link never spends more credits than you planned.
</Tip>

## What voters see

Two outputs side by side, with the shared prompt for context. Voters pick the better one with **Choose this**, or use **Tie**, **Both bad**, or **Cannot tell** when there is no meaningful winner. If the evaluation has multiple criteria, voters judge each criterion in one pass, with a progress bar across criteria.

Progress saves automatically. A voter can close the tab and continue later, or scan a QR code to move their session to another device.

### Keyboard shortcuts

| Key             | Action                         |
| --------------- | ------------------------------ |
| `←` / `A` / `1` | Choose left                    |
| `→` / `D` / `2` | Choose right                   |
| `Space`         | Play or pause media            |
| `Enter` | Submit and go to the next pair |
| `↑` / `↓`       | Previous or next criterion     |

### Quality protections

Votes only count when they can be trusted. Depending on the evaluation's settings, voters may need to watch or listen before the submit button unlocks, add a short written note with each vote, or occasionally answer a hidden exam pair with a known answer. Pairs arrive in randomized order, and accidental double submissions are ignored.

## What votes cost

Each comparison a voter decides costs one credit, no matter how many criteria it covers. Ties, "both bad," "cannot tell," and hidden exam pairs are free. If credits run out, collection pauses and nothing is lost: top up, then resume from **Setup & collect**. See [Plans and billing](/product/billing-account).
